  • Promoting Low-Carbon in Dubai

    The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Government has identified energy diversification and climate change as being strategic priorities, nonetheless, the economy remains both energy- and carbon-intensive, even by the standards of the region. Energy intensity is 20.2 MJ/$GDP, compared with 16 MJ/$GDP for Saudi Arabia and 10.8 MJ/$GDP for Kuwait.

  • UNDP UAE and the General Authority for Youth and Sports Welfare commemorate the 15th annual UN International Youth Day

    The United Nations Development Programme along with the General Authority for Youth and Sports Welfare co-organized the Youth Forum in celebration of the International Youth Day which took place on the 12th of August, 2015 in Dubai. The Forum gathered 100 participants including youth and different youth stakeholders in the UAE. The forum aimed at shedding the light on the importance of Youth Civic Engagement as well as promoting youth volunteerism in the UAE which is the main outcome of UAE Volunteer Program Adeed 2015 in which UNDP UAE is a strategic partner. A Memorandum of Understanding between UNDP UAE and the General Authority for Youth and Sports Welfare was signed during the forum.
